Directorship at University of Virginia

The University of Virginia's College and Graduate School of Arts and
Sciences is seeking a Director of Science Education and Public Outreach
with a proven track record in educational outreach in the sciences.

University outreach in the areas of science, technology, engineering and
math is increasingly critical to maintaining U.S. scientific and
technological leadership. The incumbent will develop program development
goals for educational outreach in the sciences and build a community among
current faculty, students and staff conducting science outreach programming
at the University. They will collaborate and cultivate relationships with
business, academic, science, and education groups.

The incumbent will develop and maintain fundraising plans for outreach
initiatives in the sciences, and identify potential present funders and
major donors. The incumbent will also network with regional and national
academic and government institutions to establish partnerships, as well as
communicate science outreach efforts and accomplishments through websites,
press releases, conference presentations, brochures and articles.

A Master's degree and experience in managing science outreach and
educational programs are required. Coursework in science, technology,
engineering, or mathematics is strongly preferred, and candidates should
have demonstrated experience and success in fundraising and donor
relations. This position is limited to a three year term.
