The Department of Teaching and Learning seeks qualified applications for a tenure-track Associate/Full Professor of Literacy beginning fall 2012.
Responsibilities: Conduct scholarly research in STEM and science education; seek, procure, and manage external funding; advise/mentor graduate students; provide leadership in collaboratively developing and maintaining partnerships in STEM education; teach undergraduate and/or graduate science education courses; and engage in service activities at a variety of levels. Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in science education or a science discipline with an emphasis on science education; demonstrated scholarly record and experience to merit tenure and promotion in the Department of Teaching and Learning; evidence of securing extramural funding; and experience with K-12 STEM education; ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
Desired Qualifications: A highly qualified candidate shows evidence of experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: An academic background in a scientific discipline; science curriculum and instruction (K-12); teaching in science-related undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional programs; leadership in collaborative relationships with K-12 schools, university peers, or community agencies; writing, procuring, and managing external funds; advising and/or mentoring graduate students; working with diverse/underserved populations; distance education; or technology and instruction.
