T at University of Texas at San Antonio

The Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching and the Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at San Antonio, a dynamic and rapidly growing component of the University of Texas System, invite applications for two positions at the Associate or Full Professor level, beginning Fall 2012. These positions are collaborative appointments between the College of Education and Human Development and the College of Sciences.

Associate/Full Professor – Science or Mathematics Education –
Appointment in College of Education and Human Development

Responsibilities include: (a) teaching mathematics and/or science methods courses in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD), (b) teaching mathematics and/or science content courses in the COEHD and/or College of Sciences (COS), (c) advising graduate students, (d) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, (e) conducting an active research program, (f) obtaining extramural/grant funding, and (g) providing service and leadership to department, college, university and community constituencies in the areas of mathematics and/or science education.

Required Qualifications: an earned doctorate with an emphasis in mathematics and/or science education and 18 graduate hours in a mathematics or science discipline OR an earned doctorate in a mathematics or science discipline with a demonstrated record in mathematics and/or science education; demonstrated teaching excellence; leadership and professional service in mathematics and/or science education; and, an established grants and research record in mathematics or science education commensurate with position.

Preferred qualifications: evidence of university teaching and supervisory/mentoring experience in mathematics and/or science education; evidence of collaboration with PreK-12 schools and faculty in other departments and colleges; experience with current instructional technology; and, knowledge of current and emerging mathematics and/or science education methodologies, techniques, and theories.
