Professorships at Fudan University

The Department of Physics at Fudan University (Shanghai, China) invites applications for a number of faculty positions at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to begin in the fall of 2012. Preference may be given to candidates in any area of theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optical physics and biophysics, but those in other fields of physics are also strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in physics, with a strong background and an excellent track record in research. The successful candidates are expected to spearhead world-class research programs, teach classes at both undergraduate and graduate level, and contribute to the development of first-class scientific capabilities in the Department of Physics and the State Key Laboratory of Surface Physics at Fudan University. This appointment is part of a program to broaden our research base while strengthening and complementing existing excellence and expertise. This is an unprecedented opportunity for strongly motivated candidates to pursue independent research, engage in broad international collaboration, and advance the state-of-the-art research and education in physics.
All newly hired faculty members will be provided the necessary startup resource and research infrastructures. Annual salaries for regular positions range from 130K to 300K RMB (equivalent to US$20600-47600) plus house compensation. Salaries for distinguished chair professors are internationally competitive and are to be separately negotiated in each case.
