The Department of Physics and Astronomy at A&M Commerce University in Commerce, Texas, invites applications for a Department Head. The position will begin on August 1, 2012, and is contingent upon the availability of funds. A PhD in Physics or Astronomy is required. The Department Head is a twelve-month full-time tenured faculty member with various responsibilities including; teaching physics or astronomy courses at both undergraduate and/or MS graduate level, initiating and sustaining externally funded research involving students, and University service at all levels. The Department Head is also responsible for scheduling departmental courses, faculty mentoring and evaluations, creating and overseeing all departmental budgets, coordinating the undergraduate and graduate curriculums, and recruiting students to the department. Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience and post-doctoral experience. The candidate should also have a strong record of receiving external funding.
