Position Summary: We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a position as
a Science Education Program Leader. The successful candidate will
manage complex, highly visible science education initiatives, assess the
impact of these programs and publish the findings in journals and at
local and national conferences.
The major responsibilities of this position includes planning and managing existing education programs in plasma science and related fields for undergraduate students,
K-12 students and teachers. This person will teach professional development workshops for K-12 teachers and enrichment programs for K-12 students, assist in identifying opportunities to implement new education initiatives, and represent the Laboratory on external educational panels and committees addressing issues such as curriculum design, teacher training and student assessment. Additional duties of the Program Leader are to support, maintain and upgrade the Science Education website and maintain a current knowledge and understanding of national and state issues in science education.

Essential Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a B.S. in physics,
physics education or a closely related field, a minimum of 3 years of
experience managing and developing science education programs including
curriculum development, teacher training, assessment and evaluation or
other relevant experience. Excellent organizational and analytical
skills, outstanding writing skills with the ability to edit complex
documents, strong oral communication and presentation skills with
comfort speaking in front of large groups of students, teachers or
scientists are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office or
equivalent and experience in web site development is preferred.
