Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Coordinator of Physics Education Initiatives, Outreach and Inclusion,
The coordinator will assist in developing and managing programs,
implementing education goals, carrying out initiatives to advance
existing programs, and building resources. The primary responsibilities
include 1) coordinating inclusion and retention initiatives at
undergraduate and graduate levels, including but not limited to
recruiting activities, coordinating and developing first-year seminars
and courses, 2) assisting with graduate teaching assistant training,
assignments, evaluation, and student committee activities, and 3)
coordination, implementation, and development of the Physics Department
Outreach programs (both during the academic year and summer) including
organization and communication with the public for outreach shows and
camp programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the physical sciences, or the
equivalent combination of education and experience and A minimum of
three years of experience in higher education or in an academic
environment.
Preferences:
Master’s preferred.
Superior organization, communication and presentation skills are
critical. Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a creative
problem solver; must also project strong customer service values, a
positive attitude, and strong work ethic and be able to work
independently as well as in a team environment. Ability to interpret and
apply policies, practices, and procedures; to organize data and present
clear, concise reports; to handle sensitive and confidential matters
with discretion and tact. Must be able to work occasional weekends.
