Lab Coordinator at UPenn

The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated instructional laboratory coordinator to help in the development and teaching of a novel undergraduate laboratory program. The Instructional Lab Coordinator manages the operations of the instructional laboratories and is responsible for ensuring that labs are set up. Duties include developing novel experiments and teaching undergraduates within the Department’s instructional lab program; implementing and conducting training programs and providing support and technical assistance for teaching assistants; ensuring teaching assistants have appropriate training and necessary supplies and equipment; setting up laboratory equipment and managing part-time and temporary staff; working with faculty and teaching assistants to expand novel laboratory methods and experimental design; coordinating assignments of part-time staff and maintaining equipment and purchasing records for the laboratory. A Bachelor’s Degree in physics or similar field and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Teaching experience, at any level from middle school through post graduate, in physics and experience with hardware strongly desired. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
