Physics and Mathematics Instructor and Laboratory Manager
The School of Arts & Science at the University of Bridgeport invites applications for the blended full-time, 12 month administrative position of Physics and Mathematics Instructor and Lab Manager to begin fall 2016.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities are equally divided between physics and mathematics departments
- Teaching up to 8 credits of intermediate level mathematics courses and introductory physics laboratories,
- Training and supervising graduate teaching assistants,
- Coordinating staffing and equipment deployment for several laboratory sections, and
- Participating in laboratory curriculum development. Equivalent summer semester duties are also required
Qualified applicants will possess a Master's degree in Physics, Mathematics or related field and excellent oral and written English communication skills. Experience in teaching physics and/or mathematics and physics laboratories at an undergraduate level is a plus. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience are encouraged to apply.
Organizational skills, diplomacy, and flexibility required. Must be able to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities. Previous supervisory skills are necessary in order to effectively and efficiently deal with human relation issues. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
