Minimum Qualifications

* Master's in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics; OR
* Bachelor's in physics or astronomy AND Master's in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics; OR
* A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above (candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit the Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination form in addition to all other required materials); OR
* Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990).

Experience Required

* Minimum of one (1) years full-time (or part-time equivalent) of successful experience teaching physics and astronomy lecture and laboratory at the college level.
* Experience in alternate instructional styles, such as computer-aided and individualized instruction.
* Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desired Qualifications

* College teaching experience in calculus based and/or non-calculus based physics sequence and astronomy.
* Experience with large lecture format.
* Knowledge of and ability to integrate computer technology in the classroom and be able to use such technology to offer curriculum and instruction through distance delivery modes, as appropriate.
