Two Postdocs at Université Paris Descartes

Up to two postdoctoral research positions are available for two years each in a project funded by the ANR (Agence National de la Recherche). The positions are based at the Laboratoire Psychologie de la Perception (CNRS & Université Paris Descartes, http://lpp.psycho.univ-paris5.fr) and will commence after September 2009.

Research Focus: The project aims at investigating functional and neurophysiological underpinnings of top-down guided bottom-up processing in humans. This issue shall be approached by using techniques from both experimental psychology (e.g. reaction times) and neurophysiology (especially event-related potentials).

We offer an international research environment where the candidates can continually add to their skills through involvement in different lines of research. Successful candidates will play a key role in designing / realising neuroscientific experiments and in preparing scientific publications (scientific articles and presentations at international conferences).

Requirement: Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Science or Neuroscience. Candidates near to completion may also submit applications, indicating the expected date of completion.

Further requirements for successful candidates include:

* prior research experience in human cognitive psychology/neuroscience
* publications in scientific journals
* interest in the research field of executive control
* strong statistical knowledge
* prior research experience with EEG and/or fMRI (desirable)
* programming skills (desirable)
* excellent oral and written English language skills

The application must be supported by a Master's (or qualified equivalent) and PhD certificate, a CV, and a personal statement explaining the candidate's motivation. Names and email addresses of academic referees willing to support the candidate's application are very welcome.

Applications are to be submitted in electronic format only and will be considered until the positions are assigned. We will start assessing applications as of July 11 2009.
