Post Doctoral Research Associate in Science Education

Position Summary:

The Science Education Program seeks an outstanding candidate for a position as an Associate Research Physicist. The successful candidate will support existing programs for students and teachers, such as the Plasma Physics and Fusion Energy Institute for High School Physics Teachers and the National Undergraduate Fellowship in Plasma Physics and Fusion Energy Sciences. The responsibilities include leading workshops, designing new curricula, and conducting assessment. In addition, he or she will conduct plasma physics research in the Science Education Laboratory. Topics include dusty plasmas, plasma processing, and the development of new plasma sources suitable for high school classrooms and science museums. The successful candidate will also identify new funding sources and assist the Head of the Program in implementing new educational initiatives such as an interactive online web site that uses real-time data from the National Spherical Torus Experiment.

Essential Qualifications:

Qualifications include: Ph.D. or equivalent in physics or physics education. Experience in science education, including teaching, curriculum development, teacher training, assessment and evaluation, or other relevant experience. Experience in advanced experimental physics is preferred.
