Postdoc at Harvard

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work with Prof. Eric Mazur and Prof. Todd Zickler on the development and analysis of new computer vision-based and web-based tools for Physics Education. A PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Astronomy, or Physics Education is desired. Extensive computer programming experience is essential. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge or interest in the field of Physics (or Science) Education Research.

The successful candidate will work with members of Prof. Eric Mazur's and Prof. Zickler's groups to develop the next generation of the Interactive Learning Toolkit (ILT), a learning management system that is currently used by a number of institutions nationwide. The goal of the ILT is to become a platform for the delivery of research-based pedagogical techniques. The work will involve coordination of a large-scale software development effort, integration of computer vision systems, close collaborations with other groups engaged in similar activities, and helping to disseminate the use of the ILT. Additionally, the candidate will participate in research in computer vision, the use of technology in education, and the effectiveness of various pedagogical techniques. Finally the candidate should be prepared to spend a portion of the time on web site management and user support.

Interested applicants should send their resume in PDF format, accompanied by a description of, or link to, a software project for which they are the primary author. Correspondence should be sent via e-mail with the subject line "ILT PostDoc" only to: zickler@eecs.harvard.edu.

The position is available immediately, and applications received before Apr. 30, 2010 will receive full consideration.
