Lab and Demo Coordinator at Lafayette College


The Physics Department of Lafayette College, a highly selective undergraduate institution with programs in the arts, sciences, and engineering, has an opening for a laboratory and demonstration coordinator. The appointment is expected to start January 1, 2013. Lafayette College is conveniently situated in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, 70 miles from New York City and 60 miles from Philadelphia.


The successful candidate would (1) work with faculty and the Department’s technician to develop laboratory experiments for both existing and new courses at all undergraduate levels, (2) maintain laboratory computers with data acquisition boards and specialized software, (3) coordinate laboratories for the various courses to ensure the necessary apparatus is available for each, (4) work with faculty and the technician to maintain and enhance the department’s collection of physics demonstrations, (5) maintain and update the laboratory manuals, and (6) teach four sections of introductory laboratory each semester. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in physics or a closely related field and an avid interest in teaching physics.
