Postdoc in STEM at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis

The STEM Education Research Institute (SERI) at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) seeks to application for a Postdoctoral Fellow in STEM Education. The mission of SERI is to oversee, promote and coordinate STEM education research initiatives across the IUPUI campus and in collaboration with external partners. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Jomo W. Mutegi to (a) articulate a research agenda on some aspect of STEM education in urban settings, (b) coordinate a research team of faculty, doctoral students, and undergraduate students in pursuit of that research agenda, and (c) develop products of the research in the form of publication in refereed journals and submission of major grant proposals. The postdoctoral fellow will pursue this work in concert with the Urban Center for the Advancement of STEM Education (UCASE), and through this work will aid in the development and growth of K-12 STEM partnerships with external partners.

Required qualifications consist of a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in STEM education or a related discipline. The successful candidate will have (a) a promising research record, (b) a demonstrated ability to lead others, (c) a record of active involvement in one or more STEM education research communities, and (d) a commitment to working with underrepresented groups.

Review of applications will begin August 10, 2012 and continue until the position is filled. The starting date for the successful candidate is September 2012. This position carries a stipend of $40,000 plus benefits.
