Assistant/Associate Professor in Elementary/Middle Level Science Illinois State University – Normal/Bloomington School of Teaching and Learning

Elementary/Middle Level Science Education Illinois State University, School of Teaching and Learning, is pleased to announce a vacancy for a tenure track position in Elementary/Middle Level Science Education at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.  The appointment will commence on August 17, 2015.  The primary teaching assignment will be teaching undergraduate Science Education courses in the School of Teaching and Learning with the potential to teach graduate courses.  The candidate should possess experience working in collaborative partnerships with public school professionals or demonstrate the skills to develop this experience.  The candidate is expected to demonstrate an ability to maintain a consistent record of high quality scholarship.

Required Qualifications:
• Terminal degree or ABD with a completion date prior to faculty appointment • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in 1st - 8th grade • Demonstrated potential for scholarly research

Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree(s) in a science content area
• Established record of scholarship and experience working with undergraduate and graduate students
• Experience with obtaining external funding to support research
• Experience in providing professional development to elementary and/or middle level teachers
• Experience teaching and supervising undergraduate students preparing to teach in 1st through 8th grades
• Experience with the following: NGSS and Common Core Standards.
