THREE FT Lecturers, Texas State

The Texas State University Department of Physics seeks three (3) full-time Lecturers beginning Fall 2016. The positions are for the full academic year with anticipated continuation.

Our department offers baccalaureate and master’s degrees and currently specializes in the physics of materials and physics education. In addition to ongoing departmental instructional needs, we seek to expand undergraduate research opportunities and coursework in astronomy. Texas State is a comprehensive PhysTEC site with a thriving Learning Assistant program operating in the introductory calculus-based physics sequence. Minimum qualifications:

Master’s degree in physics or related field, with at least 18 semester credit hours in graduate-level physics.

Preferred qualifications:

PhD in Physics, Astronomy/Astrophysics, Science Education, or related field.



Applicants are encouraged to express their interest and experience, if appropriate, in any of the following department instructional initiatives:

Development of undergraduate research and advanced coursework in astronomy (in which case PhD with astronomy/astrophysics dissertation research strongly preferred)
Computational modeling in support of undergraduate research and coursework
Learning Assistant Program
Special courses for elementary school teachers
Special courses for life science majors
Recruitment into high school physics teaching
Laboratory instruction reform
