Two TT Positions at Lafayette College,

The Physics Department of Lafayette College, a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts institution with programs in the arts, humanities, sciences, social sciences, and engineering, invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor of physics positions starting in academic year 2017-2018.

We are seeking candidates with a demonstrated enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching, a commitment to creative instruction in a variety of settings, and the ability to meaningfully involve students in scholarly research in an undergraduate college environment. The successful candidate will be able to teach physics effectively at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. The Search Committee is particularly interested in individuals who can communicate effectively with groups of undergraduates having a variety of interests, backgrounds and career aspirations. Enthusiasm for teaching physics-related first-year or interdisciplinary seminars would be a plus. Candidates must also be able to develop and maintain a vigorous research program in an area of physics that undergraduates find exciting and that enriches the opportunities available for our students.

We seek candidates in all fields of physics, but are particularly interested in candidates whose research areas will broaden the department's overall areas of expertise. Research proposals with the potential for interdisciplinary connections are particularly encouraged.

A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field by August 2018 is required. More information about the department is available at http://physics.lafayette.edu or by writing to physics-search@lafayette.edu. Applicants should submit a letter of application, c.v., a statement of teaching interests, a research plan, and a description of startup needs to http://apply.interfolio.com/43925. Applicants should arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted to the same link. In your application, please address how your teaching, mentoring, and/or community service support Lafayette College's commitment to diversity and inclusion articulated in the College's diversity statement ( http://www.lafayette.edu/about/diversity-statement/). Consideration of applications will begin on October 16, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled.
