The University of Utah’s Institute for Teacher Education in the College of Education seeks an experienced individual with a relevant background in STEM Education research and teaching to serve as the Teach for Utah Director.

Teach for Utah is a scholarship initiative for preservice teacher education designed to recruit and retain teachers in STEM areas. Collaboration is a critical component of this work with the College of Education, for units across campus, and the community and with stakeholders from across the state of Utah.

This is a 12 month, full time career-line (non-tenure track) position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Manage and implement all aspects of the Teach for Utah project including recruiting, supervision and mentoring of Teach for Utah students at the University of Utah
• Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students within the College of Education, Colleges across campus, Utah State Board of Education and other participating entities
• Build and nurture sustained partnerships with school districts to develop a robust and sustained recruiting plan, employment possibilities, and mentoring relationships
• Develop and implement a cohort model for students as they matriculate to the University of Utah
• Create a communication mechanism for supporting junior and high school students as part of a pre-campus cohort
• Create a pipeline cohort for students at Salt Lake Community College seeking STEM teaching degrees
• Work with UITE evaluation team for data collection on program impact and participant satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications
• Five or more years of experience working in or with public or private K-12 settings (e.g., teaching, instructional coach, leadership, professional development)
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity and an understanding of unique equity-related challenges in STEM education
• Doctoral degree in a STEM field, STEM education, or Learning Sciences; or Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of equivalent administrative experience
• Demonstrated experience managing or leading STEM projects and/or STEM grants
• Strong working knowledge of national trends and best practices in STEM education and a demonstrated ability to apply STEM education research to support best-practices in the classroom
• Demonstrated success leading STEM-related professional development and outreach to K-12 educators and/or students
• Curriculum development experience
• Demonstrated experience, flexibility, and outstanding skills in working collaboratively
• Excellent written, oral communication and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a STEM field or STEM K-12 education
• Demonstrated ability to work with Utah school districts, higher education units across the state of Utah, and Utah community partners
