Assistant Project Scientist

The Education Studies program at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) has an opening for an Assistant Project Scientist position with a preferred start date of March 1, 2009. Appointment length: Two years, with possibility of extension depending on program needs and funding.
Responsibilities include:
* Serve as the Director of Research for the UCSD portion of the Gates Foundation Project: Maximizing Opportunities & Minimizing Obstacles to PSE+.
* Manage a multi-disciplinary, multi-year project related to breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty through post-secondary education.
* Supervise projects from conception through research,
* Provide leadership and be responsible for both supervising and supporting research staff, graduate
* students assigned to the Gates Project.
* Manage the day-to-day logistics of the Gates Project, collaborate with and assist the Co-Principal Investigator in UCSD Education Studies Program in overseeing the overall study, conduct qualitative research (collecting and analyzing data) in the San Diego community portion of the study, and writing reports related to the dissemination of findings across the study.
