Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Physics to begin in August 2009. A Ph.D. degree in physics is required and post-doctoral experience is desirable.
This position was created as part of an initiative to engage students in the STEM disciplines at NEIU through a new interdisciplinary student center for science engagement housed within the STEM departments. The successful applicant for this position will have the opportunity to contribute to the center as well as to the interdisciplinary environmental science curriculum currently under development. We seek a candidate with a solid training in Physics and an interest in teaching at all levels of the Physics curriculum. NEIU is seeking faculty members who have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, an active research program and the ability to engage undergraduates in research as well as contribute to program development.
