TT at Southern Polytechnic State University (GA)

The School of Arts and Sciences at Southern Polytechnic State University invites applications for a tenure-track position Assistant Professor (other ranks considered) in Science Education beginning August 10, 2012. The Science Education position can be in any of the three disciplines of Biology Education, Chemistry Education, or Physics Education, with the successful candidate serving in one of those three programs, and teaching courses in Education and the Science discipline. All faculty positions require teaching and service responsibilities and an appropriate terminal degree. Applicants who are not U.S. citizens must state visa type and authorization for permanent employment in the U.S.

Southern Polytechnic State University, is a recent recipient of a UTeach replication grant for our education program. SPSU is a member of the University System of Georgia, is a residential university with approximately 5,800 students pursuing bachelors and masters degrees in many of the nation’s fastest growing technology fields. The university, located one mile west of 1-75’s Exit 263, is just 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta. Southern Polytechnic is an EOE/ADA/AA Employer.

Applicants for the Science Education position must have:
• A doctorate in a science discipline, science education, biology education, chemistry education, or physics education;
• A minimum of 3 years experience teaching public high school science (with a preference to those with at least 5 years).
• Evidence of being a master teacher or well recognized for competence in the field of science education.
• Current, viable teacher certification for high school science.

All faculty positions require teaching and service responsibilities and an appropriate terminal degree.
