We are a vibrant science education department with a many diverse activities. The successful candidate will be joining 5 tenured Science Education faculty, 1 joint appointment (Sci Ed and Geology) and a dozen or so part-time faculty. We just moved into a new, state of the art science complex. This new science building is centrally located on our beautiful campus. Science Education faculty have active grants totaling more than $3.5 million. Our program credentials 6% of California's secondary science teachers and our campus is one of the largest producers of elementary teachers in the state. Being housed in the College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics allows us to easily partner with our science faculty colleagues. We also work closely with colleagues in the College of Education.
Our faculty teach science courses and methods courses for elementary and secondary science teacher candidates as well as teaching graduate courses and supervising thesis work for candidates in our Master's of Science in Science Education. The MS program has options for elementary, secondary and informal science educators.
Applications are being accepted now with review of candidates to begin January 17, 2012. We will consider candidates at the Professor or Associate Professor level (with tenure).
