The Department of Physics at Lawrence University invites applications for a two-year appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics to start 9/1/12. Applicants must hold the Ph.D. degree in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field and must demonstrate genuine interest in working with undergraduates. We seek a conscientious teacher and a practicing physicist who will thrive in a four-year, liberal arts institution where close contact and collaboration with students are the norm. Prior teaching and/or postdoctoral experience preferred. Letters of application with detailed statements of teaching philosophy and experience and of research interests, vitae, and two letters of recommendation should be sent to: Dr. Matthew R. Stoneking, Department of Physics, Lawrence University, 711 E. Boldt Way, Appleton, WI 54911. To guarantee consideration, submit materials by March 9. Evaluation of candidates will begin on that date and continue until the position is filled.
