The assistant or associate professor of physics in the Hurley College of Science and Mathematics is an instructional position with primary teaching responsibilities both in service courses and major degree course offerings for students in the university. Expertise is desired in the areas of the trig- and calculus-based physics sequence, modern physics sequence (I & II), and optics and wave motion course for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Essential Functions:
Strong commitment to teaching undergraduates
Willingness to teach upper level courses in areas such as modern physics, optics, wave motion, and advanced laboratory
Willingness to teach in January term, if needed
Willingness to fulfill faculty responsibilities as described in the universitys Faculty Handbook, as required for a one-year appointment
Qualifications:
Knowledge of best pedagogy standards in the teaching of physics concepts
Energetic and enthusiastic personality; high standards of conduct, appearance, and attitude.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; to work and lead collaboratively.
Ability to supervise student staff and lead groups working in a collaborative, strategy-driven environment.
Knowledge of electronics
Education:
Preferred: Ph.D., physics or related field
Required: M.S., physics or related field
Experience:
Preferred: Teaching physics at the college level.
Equipment:
Standard equipment in a physics lab

The Assistant or Associate Professor of physics must accept the purposes and goals of OBU and show the ability to work with people from varied backgrounds.
