Assistant Professor of Science Education-University of Georgia

The science education program at the University of Georgia invites
applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Mathematics
and Science Education at the assistant professor level. We seek an
individual with a doctoral degree in science education or closely related
field, a strong background in one of the natural sciences, and the potential
to be a productive scholar at the highest levels within the field of science
education. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct an active
research program in science education, publish scholarly work in high-impact
venues, and acquire external funding.

Faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education are active in
local, national, and international organizations for mathematics and science
education, have a long history of outstanding research, hold national
grants, and include AERA and AAAS fellows. We have strong collaborative
relationships with faculty in the sciences and with teachers in local

Science education faculty members teach undergraduate and graduate courses
in programs leading to initial elementary, middle, and secondary teacher
certification. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in one or
more of these programs. At the graduate level, faculty members work with
full-time and part-time graduate students. Currently there are over 30
doctoral students from a variety of countries in the science education
program. Most full-time doctoral students are funded through the department,
grants, or special fellowships from the Graduate School.
