FT Lab Instructor, South Alabama - Mobile

The Department of Physics at the University of South Alabama invites applications for a Laboratory Instructor position in physics to teach introductory physics and astronomy laboratories beginning Fall Semester 2015.  This is a non-tenure-track, twelve-month appointment beginning August 15, 2015 and is renewable annually. A degree in physics at the masters level or higher is required at the time of appointment. Experience with introductory astronomy laboratories is desirable. Additional qualifications are a background in experimental physics, knowledge of Windows-based personal computers, and possession of excellent communication skills. Duties of the Laboratory Instructor will include teaching introductory laboratories, general oversight of assigned laboratories, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  • Letter of application. Although an electronic version of the letter of application is sufficient to begin consideration, University policy requires that we also have a hard copy of the application letter.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Undergraduate and Graduate transcripts. Although photocopies are sufficient for the initial application, official transcripts sent directly from the granting institution to the Search Committee are necessary before an on-campus interview can occur.
  • Three letters of reference. Before an on-campus interview can occur, original, non-electronic letters of reference sent directly by the references to the Search Committee are required.
