Position Summary
The Department of Physics invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position. The initial appointment will be for one academic year, and may be renewed on a yearly basis depending on availability of funds and performance. The position will most likely involve teaching two or three physics courses each semester. Salary is commensurate with experience and contingent upon sufficient course enrollment.
Candidates should have experience with the techniques and topics central to the understanding of Physics.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver lectures.
  • Prepare, assign, and handle the grading of appropriate assignments, projects, and exams.
  • Be available to answer student questions outside of class for a minimum of four hours per week.
  • Effectively manage assigned Teaching Assistants in handling work associated with the courses.
  • Assist with advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Candidate may also be assigned to some departmental committees.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Physics
  • Experience teaching at the University level
  • Teaching and/or work experience with equipment relevant to the subject
  • Experience with the techniques and topics central to the understanding of Physics
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to teach fundamentals of Physics
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Dedication to enhancing the undergraduate experience
  • Knowledge of the results of physics education research
