The successful candidate will be able to teach core college-level physics courses (Physics I, II (trigonometry based), and III (calculus based), with labs) and electives in their field of study. Electives offered have included Astronomy, Astrobiology, Medical Radiology, Nuclear Physics, General Relativity, Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics and Mathematical Methods, and the development of new electives is welcomed. In addition to teaching students in a small class setting, the successful candidate must be innovative, able to engage students from varying backgrounds and preparations for successful learning once at LSMSA, and willing to use office hours to tutor and assist students. The ability to mentor students and assist in their research is a key to a teacher's long-term success and satisfaction. Other duties include academic advising and sponsoring, chaperoning, or assisting in extra-curricular and student social activities outside of the normal school day. A candidate experienced with online teaching may have part of his or her load, or may receive a supplemental contract, working in LSMSA's Online Academy. This position has a start date in August 2016. 

Required Qualifications:
  • Master of Science degree in physics
  • Teaching experience with advanced high school students or at the collegiate level.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D.
