Job Description Summary |
The Physical Science Department at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York, invites applications from qualified and skillful instructors to fill a full-time tenure track position in Physics.
Our Physics courses service the curricula of many different degree programs on campus. We currently offer algebra-based college level Introductory Physics and Astronomy courses for non-science majors, and calculus-based Physics courses for science and engineering majors.
We offer a supportive environment that emphasizes the importance of holistic student development demonstrated in part through faculty-student interaction both in and outside of the classroom.
Strong candidates will demonstrate success in:
-College-level teaching; -Course development; -Academic Advisement; -Use of technology to enhance learning, including on-line teaching; -Working with diverse populations of students, especially under-represented students. |

Major Responsibilities |
Teaching duties for this position may include:
-General Physics introductory courses with laboratory;
-Calculus-based Physics (Classical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics and Thermodynamics) with laboratory;
-Introduction to Astronomy with laboratory, face to face, or online.

Minimum Qualifications |
Master’s degree in Physics or Astronomy from a regionally accredited college or university;
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university and college level, preferably at the community college level.

Preferred Qualifications |
Completed Ph.D. preferred.
Subject matter expertise in all of the above-listed fields is also preferred.
