The Institute of Education is a faculty of MMU with a strong national reputation for its Initial Teacher Training, multi-professional work, innovative commercial projects, rapidly expanding portfolio of Continuing Professional Development and its internationally recognised profile in educational research. The Institute is a vibrant, creative and exciting place to work with a supportive management team that encourages fresh ideas.

You will make a major contribution to the future development of teaching and scholarship in the Institute of Education and should have a strong and successful background in the school, teacher education or another relevant educational setting. You will be creative, highly organised, at ease with change and determined to succeed. The post is subject to enhanced CRB check.

The Centre for Science Education has an excellent reputation for effective delivery of a range of initial primary and secondary programmes as well as a growing Masters/CPD profile. A number of tutors are research active and there is a growing interest in developing research profiles within the Centre. The Centre also hosts the Science Learning Centre North West and there are strong links between staff in the two Centres. The Centre for Science Education is part of the Mathematics, Science and Technology Division. The Leader for Sciences Education would be required to make an active contribution to the work within the Division and to support the Academic Division Leader.

We are looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, well qualified and experienced science educator with excellent leadership skills to lead and manage this large and innovative centre. This post is to start in September 2009.
