Senior Science Officer at the Franklin Institute

The Franklin Institute is seeking a Senior Science Officer to serve as the administrative lead/ member of a team of scientists, science content experts and museum specialists providing expertise and support for all Institute content needs. This position will be responsible for managing the staff resources responsible for creating, developing and implementing the scientific content of exhibits and programs. In addition to management responsibilities this position also serves as a Senior Scientist, acting as a content resource supporting exhibit and program development and delivery. The position is expected to identify and pursue new projects that serve the needs of The Franklin Institute and advance its Strategic Plan. Qualified individuals must have significant experience in informal science education with minimum of 8 years experience in managing programs or exhibition staff. An advanced degree in a science or engineering field is required, with a Ph.D. desirable. The individual must have a proven ability to communicate science, both verbally and in writing, to a wide audience and be familiar with appropriate educational theory. Demonstrated experience in handling media questions, requests for information and on-air presentation is a plus. In addition, the candidate must have strong project and staff management abilities.
