Job Description:
The Division of Science, Engineering & Technology at Howard Community College (HCC) is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position in the discipline of Physics/Physical Science. The successful applicant will teach a range of courses that includes physical science, algebra-based physics, calculus-based physics and astronomy where they will engage students in active learning and guided-inquiry experiments. Coordination with division faculty, supervision and training of adjunct faculty, curriculum development, and student advising are required. Applicants are required to have a Master's degree or higher in Physics or a closely related field and to have teaching experience. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in their teaching through reflection, professional development, and a willingness to incorporate innovative strategies and integrate technology into their teaching. Applicants must be willing to teach day and evening courses in a variety of formats including face-to-face, hybrid, scheduled remote, and online. The faculty member will fulfill a variety of college responsibilities including course and program assessment, participation in college wide activities and student clubs, and service on college committees. The ideal candidate has an interest in community outreach and an interest in engaging community college students in undergraduate research.

Requirements:
Minimum of a Master's degree in Physics or a Physical Sciences related field
Teaching experience in Physics or a Physical Sciences related field
Demonstrated record of continuous teaching improvement
Ability to teach using a variety of approaches
Demonstrated use of technology
Effective interpersonal skills
Preferred requirements:
Experience in sponsoring student clubs or community outreach
Experience with curriculum development and assessment
Familiarity with results from physics and/or related education research
Interest in engaging students in research projects

This is a 10-month faculty position.
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30am - 5:00 pm but some evenings/weekends may be required
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience plus excellent health insurance, paid leave and tuition reimbursement
Grade: Full Time Faculty
