Full-time nine-month non-tenure track visiting instructional position (lecturer or visiting assistant professor) in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the rank of Lecturer beginning August 22, 2011. The selected candidate will be expected to teach introductory undergraduate physics courses as assigned in the Department of Physics & Astronomy. The selected applicant will teach approximately 12 credit hours (approximately 15 contact hours) each semester, which includes both lecture and laboratory sections. The selected candidate will be encouraged to participate in departmental activities and life, and will be welcome and encouraged to use the Department’s array of experimental equipment to further their research agenda, including a 24-inch reflecting telescope with CCD camera, a large optics table, a high-speed digital camera, and wood & metal shops. The Materials Science Center also has a large variety of available materials characterization instrumentation, including a 200 keV TEM, SEM, AFM, XPS, XRF, FTIR, XRD, STM, and MBE chamber.

A Masters Degree in Physics or a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution is required; a PhD in Physics or a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution is strongly preferred. Previous teaching experience and a demonstrated ability to teach introductory undergraduate physics will be considered an asset. Salary will be commensurate with teaching experience.
