Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geosciences The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics FCSM-N-2883L Position: The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites applications for a renewable. non-tenure track, 10-month Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geo sciences beginning August, 2015. Qualifications: Ph.D. in physics or a closely related discipline. Preference given to candidates with strong backgrounds in Astronomy, Biophysics, or Physics Education Research. Recent experience teaching introductory physics and strong communication skills. Experience in curriculum development or research interests compatible with the department's current research activities and familiarity with current trends in undergraduate physics education are desirable. Eligible to work in the United States beginning August 2015. Responsibilities: Teach a combination of lecture and laboratory sections from three-credit, four-credit, and/or five credit undergraduate introductory level astronomy or physics courses including ASTR 161, 162; PHYS 100, 103, 202, 211, 212, 241, 242, depending on instructor's area of specialization. Total instructional workload is four course units per semester. Lecturers also allocate 15% of their time toward departmental service and research, including activities such as supervising undergraduate research, mentoring graduate teaching assistants, and/or redesigning courses such as general physics for life sciences.
