Physics Education and Technology Specialist, University of Kentucky, Lexington

The College of Arts & Sciences is seeking outstanding candidates for a Physics Education and Technology Specialist. The College has a strong commitment to undergraduate education and values innovative approaches to instruction. The Department of Physics and Astronomy oversees a robust undergraduate physics program, and is in the process of updating and expanding its introductory course offerings. New courses incorporating Technology Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) are under development, and the Department also has plans to upgrade its undergraduate laboratory curriculum. The Physics Education and Technology Specialist will have the opportunity to play a central role in curriculum development and implementation.
The primary duties of this position will be to: collaborate with faculty in the design and implementation of curricula and lab exercises for introductory physics courses; work with faculty and instructional staff to ensure coordination of lectures and labs; help manage the operations and facilities of instructional laboratories in consultation with faculty; serve on a faculty-led committee overseeing undergraduate instruction and labs; work with faculty and instructional staff to train and supervise graduate student teaching assistants; assist with the procurement, development, organization, and maintenance of equipment and materials for instructional laboratories and lecture demonstrations; ensure that instructional laboratories are fully operational and prepared for each laboratory class; ensure compliance in all undergraduate laboratories with federal, state, and institutional safety regulations and guidelines.
