Job DescriptionThe Physics Department at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a permanent, full time, non-tenure track teaching position, at the rank of lecturer with promotional opportunities. The position’s primary duties will be teaching courses at the undergraduate level in physics, astronomy and/or atmospheric science with an expected teaching load of three courses per semester. Other duties may include participating in outreach, recruitment and retention activities for the department, college and university, and some undergraduate advising.
The successful candidate will demonstrate effective skills in teaching large lower-level, and smaller upper-level, undergraduate lecture courses. Strong preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience of applying contemporary physics education research to curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment.

Required QualificationsPhD in Physics with experience teaching college level physics.
Preferred QualificationsStrong preference will be given to applicants with successful experience in innovating teaching techniques. Evidence of ability and motivation to teach effectively at the undergraduate and upper-level undergraduate Physics courses will be a plus
