General Info: | James Madison University invites applications for 2 one-year non-tenure track faculty positions beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year in the Physics and Astronomy Department at the rank of Assistant Professor. Each appointment is for one year. The Physics and Astronomy Department has 22 full-time faculty members and approximately 130 students in our multi-track baccalaureate-only program. Review of applications will begin on January 4, 2016 and will continue until the position is filled. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation. |
Duties and Responsibilities: | The successful candidate will teach introductory physics or physical science for non-science majors. Additional duties may include conducting general physics or introductory electronics laboratories. |
Qualifications: | The Physics and Astronomy Department seeks candidates with an earned Ph.D. in astronomy or physics. A demonstrated interest and ability in teaching courses relevant to the position is required. |
