|General Info:||James Madison University invites applications for 2 one-year non-tenure track faculty positions beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year in the Physics and Astronomy Department at the rank of Assistant Professor. Each appointment is for one year. The Physics and Astronomy Department has 22 full-time faculty members and approximately 130 students in our multi-track baccalaureate-only program.|
Review of applications will begin on January 4, 2016 and will continue until the position is filled. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
|Duties and Responsibilities:||The successful candidate will teach introductory physics or physical science for non-science majors. Additional duties may include conducting general physics or introductory electronics laboratories.|
|Qualifications:||The Physics and Astronomy Department seeks candidates with an earned Ph.D. in astronomy or physics. A demonstrated interest and ability in teaching courses relevant to the position is required.|

The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
