TT - Assistant Professor of Physics, Mississippi College

Mississippi College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in our Physics program with a starting date of August 2017. Successful candidates will possess a completed Ph.D. with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in the field of physics. Candidates should have the background necessary to teach undergraduate level courses including Trigonometry-based and Calculus-based Introductory Physics and some combination of the following: Modern Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Classical Mechanics, Optics, Engineering Mechanics, and Engineering Thermodynamics.

Founded in 1826, Mississippi College is a private, comprehensive, Christian university affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention. MC offers over 80 undergraduate majors, 16 graduate programs, and has an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students. The main campus is located in Clinton, MS which is about 10 miles west of the capital city of Jackson. Our Physics program appeals to students who are looking for an academically rigorous curriculum together with a Christian educational experience, close proximity to the Jackson area, and the benefits of being part of a small department which allows for close interactions with faculty and fellow classmates.
