Job Description Summary
Onondaga Community College is a two-year college located on a 280-acre campus in Syracuse, NY. OCC operates under the State University of New York (SUNY) system and is locally sponsored by Onondaga County. Major Responsibilities
Strong candidates will offer demonstrated success in at least some of the following areas:

-Working with diverse populations of students, especially underrepresented students;

-Academic advisement.

As a community college, the focus of this position is teaching and not research.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Physics or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications
-Doctorate or Master’s degree in Physics plus 4 years of teaching experience in physics;

-Experience teaching introductory astronomy;

-Demonstrated experience in curriculum development;

-Experience working with diverse non-traditional students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, flexibility in instructional delivery, active professional development/life-long learning, experience in student advisement, curriculum development, service to college and community, and a commitment to working closely with undergraduate students in small-class settings in a dynamic and diverse/multicultural college environment.
