The Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences - Physics (Miami University-Hamilton Campus) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics position to commence August 2017. This position is based at the Hamilton regional campus, and duties include teaching, scholarship and service.
Duties/Physical Demands:
Primary teaching duties for this position include introductory algebra-based physics, introductory calculus-based physics and their associated laboratories, as well as a variety of physics courses for non-science majors.  The establishment of a productive research agenda that enables collaboration with other Miami science or engineering faculty that involves undergraduate students is expected in optics, atomic and molecular physics, condensed matter, computational physics, and physics education.  Additional duties include providing general advising to undergraduates and performing service to the department, university and the community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field by date of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Consideration will be given to candidates who have experience in teaching in a studio physics format or using other active learning strategies, an interest in developing teaching-laboratory experiments, and willingness to teach with online or hybrid formats; commitment to excellence in undergraduate physics teaching and student involvement in research.
