Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), in Laredo, TX, invites applications for its new position of Director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL). The goals of the CATL are orientation of new faculty; support and training for graduate teaching assistants; integration of instruction and assessment; mentoring programs and peer evaluation for teaching; and coordination and interaction among teaching faculty and various support areas (IT, the Library, etc.) Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in a discipline taught at TAMIU, be eligible for a tenure-track appointment, and have experience in a teaching-learning environment in higher education. Additional qualifications include effective communication, collaborative, and organizational skills; a strong record of excellence in teaching; and familiarity with the assessment of teaching and learning. The Director will teach one class each semester, hold orientations and training sessions for new faculty, apply for relevant grants, conduct workshops relevant to the goals of the CATL, and work with other TAMIU departments to provide the faculty with technological and pedagogical resources.
