Postdoc at the University of Maine

The Center for Science and Mathematics Education Research at the University of Maine anticipates that a post-doctoral position will be available in the Fall of 2009 in physical or life sciences education research, mathematics education research or a closely related field. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in science, mathematics, science or mathematics education or a closely related field, have a strong research record, and have demonstrated excellence in teaching. Strong preference will be given to applicants who have a record of successful science or mathematics education research and who possess an interdisciplinary background. The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research in the Center, participate in writing proposals for external funding, and teach one course each year at the introductory undergraduate level or in the Center’s interdisciplinary Master of Science in Teaching program. Preference will be given to those who have experience in educating teachers and who have successful grant-writing experience.

The position is a twelve-month appointment, with possible renewal for a second year, and preference will be given to those who can start sometime during the Fall of 2009.
