Associate/Full Professor, Teacher Ed./Teacher Prep at U of Wisconsin

The Department of Teacher Education at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of associate or full professor to serve as Coordinator of Teacher Preparation, a university wide function at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Coordinator has primary responsibility for the development and maintenance of school and district partnerships as well as for compliance of the Teacher Preparation Program with DPI licensure requirements. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Chair of the Department of Teacher Education in advancing the mission and vision of the Department and implementing its policies. The Coordinator reports to the Chair of the Department of Teacher Education.

Responsibilities: The Coordinator shall be a faculty member holding the rank of associate or full professor, and shall, within the constraints of performing duties as Coordinator, be expected to be professionally active in the areas of teaching, research and service. The Coordinator is responsible for:

* Meeting Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) requirements for teacher licensure and program accreditation
* Collaborating with the Teacher Education Department Chair and faculty in aligning the Teacher Preparation Program with state requirements, institutional priorities and local needs
* Representing the Teacher Preparation Program at selected state and community functions
* Supporting the Chair of the Teacher Education Department in the interpretation of DPI and university policies, goals, and practices to community partners
* Keeping Teacher Education faculty and content faculty apprised of issues affecting the Teacher Preparation Program
* Leading data collection efforts and preparing program reports as required by DPI and/or the university
* Serving as chief certification officer
* Fostering close partnerships with area schools and districts
* Working with the deans, department chairs, and program directors in matters related to evaluation and assessment
* Collaborating with concerned parties in the writing of department grants
* Teaching two courses per year in area of expertise

Required Qualifications:
* Doctorate in education or closely related field.
* A record of teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership at the post-secondary level to warrant appointment as an associate or full professor
* Minimum of three years of successful teaching in PK-12 schools
* Demonstrated knowledge of, interest in, and commitment to teacher preparation
* Demonstrated leadership skills
* Demonstrated administrative experience in education
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* A record of commitment to promotion of diversity in curriculum, hiring, and climate for faculty, students, and community, including affirmative action and equal opportunity
* Understanding of relevant state and federal regulations as they affect teacher education
* Experience with standards-based, outcomes-driven approaches to teacher preparation, teacher certification and licensure
* Consultative skills needed to relate effectively with school district personnel and community members and organizations

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in obtaining and managing grants and external funding
* Experience in K-12 classroom-based teacher research and other research methods

Salary:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
