VAP at Berea College

The Department of Physics at Berea College invites applicants for a one year sabbatical replacement position, beginning mid-August 2011. We seek a Ph.D. in physics who is an enthusiastic teacher with a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate physics courses, astronomy courses and general education courses. With an undergraduate program rooted in the liberal arts, Berea is distinguished by its service to students of limited economic resources and to the Appalachian region, its student labor program, its history of interracial and intercultural education, and by the number of graduates who earn higher degrees. Applicants should send a cover letter, resume, transcripts of graduate and undergraduate work, a statement on teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. Martin Veillette, Physics Department, CPO 2191, Berea College, Berea, KY 40404.
