Job Description: The School of Teaching and Learning in the
College of Education at the University of Florida (Gainesville,
FL), a comprehensive land-grant research university and member of
the Association of American Universities, invites applications for
a Clinical Assistant Professor. This is a twelve month, time
limited, non-tenure track position with an initial appointment for
one year. This position is time limited and continuation of this
appointment is contingent upon the availability of funding and
satisfactory performance in the position. This position will begin
as soon as a qualified candidate can be located and will be based
in Palm Beach, Florida. Responsibilities: Recruit, advise, and
instruct practicing educators in Palm Beach County for a distance
learning graduate certificate program in STEM education Collaborate
with UF faculty on program development for STEM graduate
certificate and related distance graduate programs Assist with
project coordination and serve as liaison to project partners,
including in-county travel across Palm Beach County and periodic
travel to Gainesville for planning meetings Collaborate with UF
faculty and staff on Palm Beach STEM Initiative grant efforts in
Palm Beach County
Minimum Requirements: Required Qualifications\: Completed
doctorate (by August 2013) in STEM education, teacher education,
curriculum and instruction with a teacher education focus, or a
closely related area Strong content background in at least one STEM
area (science, technology, engineering, or math) At least three
years of successful 6-12 classroom teaching experience in a STEM
area Experience teaching in higher education Evidence of ability
and willingness to work collaboratively and with a commitment to
collegiality
Preferred Qualifications Desired Qualifications: Direct
experience with distance teaching and learning Direct experience
with school reform initiatives, particularly in secondary schools
Direct experience supporting STEM education reform Direct
experience with university-school partnerships
