Chair, Dept of Physics, California Lutheran

The College of Arts & Sciences and Department of Physics at California Lutheran University invite applications for a tenure track position as Chair of the Department of Physics to begin Fall 2014.  Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field. Rank is open, but candidates must have chair or equivalent faculty leadership as well as undergraduate teaching experience.

Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and conducting research with undergraduates in a liberal arts university.  Candidates should be able to teach a range of lecture and lab courses, such as math methods, electrodynamics, relativity, and quantum mechanics as well as introductory courses.  The successful candidate will have a desire to direct a small but growing program and foster connections with other science disciplines.
