Renewable 4-Year Senior Lecturer, UPenn

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a Senior Lecturer position for a four year period starting in Academic Year 2015-16; renewable contingent on satisfactory performance and approval of the Dean. The main responsibilities will be teaching physics or astronomy lectures; overseeing and coordinating undergraduate laboratories, observatories and lecture demonstrations; in consultation with the faculty developing new labs while improving existing ones; mentoring and training of student workers and teaching assistants, teaching support, and assisting general physics lab instruction and curriculum development. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, Physics Education or a closely related field, a strong interest and demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development, and outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
