1-year FT at Univ of Southern Alabama

The University of South Alabama Department of Physics invites applications for a one year only, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 15, 2015. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Physics and must show evidence of excellence in teaching. Primary duties for this position include teaching a wide spectrum of undergraduate courses. 
The University of South Alabama is a comprehensive, state-supported institution with over 16,000 students. Currently the Physics Department has nine full-time faculty and three part-time instructors, and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics.
Review of applications will begin June 1, 2015 and shall continue until the position is filled.  Interested persons should send, or arrange to have sent, the following items:
  • Letter of Application. Although an electronic version of the letter of application is sufficient to begin consideration, University policy requires that we also have a hard copy of the application letter.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Statement of teaching philosophy.
  • Undergraduate and Graduate transcripts. Although photocopies are sufficient for the initial application, official transcripts sent directly from the granting institution to the Search Committee are necessary before an on-campus interview can occur.
  • Names of at least three references. Before an on-campus interview can occur, original, non-electronic letters of recommendation sent by the references directly to the Search Committee are required.
In order to avoid delays in the consideration of your application, you should arrange for the official transcripts and original letters of recommendation to be sent as soon as possible.
