ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Science and Mathematics faculty in the College of Letters and Sciences at Arizona State University are seeking a highly motivated, energetic and passionate individual to fill a Physics Instructor position. The Instructor will be a part of a team that includes Physics faculty and other instructional staff dedicated to quality instruction. Instructors are responsible for the design of lecture curriculum and instructional programs. Instructors work alongside mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics faculty in Science and Mathematics in order to provide students in those disciplines with a solid set of physics and mathematics skills appropriate to their chosen profession. Teaching load is typically five physics lecture sections per semester or an equivalent as the ASU Polytechnic campus.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Masters degree in Physics or closely related field; two years experience teaching undergraduate level physics courses; evidence of excellent teaching ability.
DESIRED
Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field; able to teach algebra to calculus based physics courses from classical mechanics to electricity and magnetism, as well as introductory modern physics; experience using technology to teach physics courses; experience in course management systems such as Blackboard and online homework systems; and experience working in a collaborative environment within and across disciplines.

This is an academic term appointment 8/16/2015 to 5/15/2016. Renewal is conditional upon satisfactory job performance, the continued availability of funds, and the needs of the academic unit and the university. Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate. Background check required prior to employment.
